Therapist
My name is Don Morang and I am a native of midcoast Maine. I received my bachelor’s degree in social work from Temple University and my master’s degree in social work from The University of New England. I am a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in teaching dialectical behavior skills, which in my work with adolescents, has a positive effect on their ability to think and assess how to react to life situations before responding behaviorally.

One aspect of providing therapy to the adolescent population in a residential treatment center such as Ironwood that I very much enjoy is to witness an adolescent’s decision to reject old patterns of behavior they recognize over time they no longer need. I especially enjoy the process of an adolescent reunifying with their family members. This can be a process where the teen’s heart becomes awakened and Ironwood, with its caring staff and animal community, nurtures this development. I see these transformations in our resident teens, and it is extremely rewarding to be a part of the innovative programs here at Ironwood.
