Deborah MacLeod
Night Security
My name is Deborah MacLeod and I am on the night security team at Ironwood. I have been involved in various aspects of security for the past twelve years and it’s rewarding to witness our Resident’s transition through our program and to see so many of them mature into caring, young adults.

I have worked with youth as a Cub Scout leader and I have also been a youth leader and teacher at my church. After my 3 children got older, I received my Associate of Science degree at The University of Maine at Augusta. I believe that education is one of the keys to success in this life and it’s wonderful to see our Residents become more engaged in learning, as they work towards their graduation and plan for the possibility of college.

In my spare time, my husband and I enjoy outdoor activities that include fishing, boating and camping. We love to visit Maine’s numerous state parks and especially enjoy discovering the more remote areas in this beautiful state. Other hobbies that I enjoy are family history research and fiber crafts and it is fun to share this with our Residents.

Coming to Ironwood is like visiting a small state park with its rolling hills and woods. The natural resources of the property are perfect for the safety and security of our Residents. I’m proud to work with the professionals here at Ironwood. Everyone here is interested in the welfare and safety of our Residents as they move forward in their program. My favorite quote is from Mother Teresa: “Live simply so that others may simply live”.
